    Amira Abdi

                                                        

       Amira Abdi is an international oriental dancer teacher and choreographer .

         Being sensual and elegant artist, she created her own unique style of a princess dancer. With her passionate love to everything which is refined she managed to turn a traditional belly dance  routine into a stage dance form based on the classical choreography without loosing it’s bright authentic oriental features. Her artistic interpretations, the variety of stage images, her musicality and innovative style made her popular among dancers and dance lovers in Ukraine and abroad

        Born in Kiev of Ukrainian parents with Algerian and Serbian background Amira started dancing when she was a little girl. Born in a country where ballet dance school was considered to be the best in the world (the former USSR), she spent many hours in a dance classes passionately studying classical, modern and folklore dance.

       At her teen age Amira visited the land of her grandfathers for the first time. There she was introduced to the mysterious world of authentic Algerian dance and Arabian music. Since that time she fell in love with oriental culture and art. She started to learn Arabic together with the most important language – the language of oriental dance, which became for her the way to eхpress the deepest feelings of a woman’s soul.

        In order to develop her dance knowledge she moves to Cairo where she takes private classes with Mahmoud Reda. She also took numerous workshops with Raqia Hassan, Amani of Lebanon, Farida Fahmi,Magdy El Leisy, Momo Kadous, Dalia, Jahan, Alaa Yusef, Randa Kalal, Khaled Mahmoud, Freiz, Zeina, Dandash, Dawlat Ebrahim, Leila, Orit Maftsir, Nesrin, Tito, Liza Laziza, Hassan Khalil, Faruk Mustafa, Aida Nour, Kazzafi, Sami Khouri, Georgette Gebara, Francois Rahme, Amir Thaleb. Beginning from 2005 every year she visits Cairo to take part in world most famous Oriental dance festivals: “Ahalan Wa Sahlan”  and “Nilegroupe” . In 2006 she brought a group of Ukrainian dancers to  Amani Oriental Dance Festival in Lebanon, where she was proposed to be it’s official  representative  in Ukraine. In order to make a research in oriental culture and art Amira traveled to Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Turkey, Tunisia, Dubai, India and Egypt (more than 20 times).

       Although Amira has been awarded her degree of French and English Languages  teacher and translator by Kiev National Polytechnic University she decided to devote her life to choreography and oriental dance. She also graduated from the National Academy of Culture and Art where she got M.A. in folklore choreography.

       In 2002 she founded of the first oriental dance school in Kiev “Amira”,  presently counting more than 300 students obtaining a complete training in both teaching a professional levels. She mastered her own teaching method and art of dance instruction based on classical and character dance which is now famous all over Ukraine. On the base of the dance school Amira created “Ishtar dance troupe” where she invited the most talented students.  Many Ukrainian dancers teachers and studio owners started studying belly dance in  Amira’s dance school. Now Amira travels Ukraine extensively delivering workshops and performing in concerts. She is often invited as a judge for the oriental dance competitions.

        Throughout her career, Amira Abdi performed in the best Ukrainian theaters, hotels, restaurants and night clubs including famous  Donetsk Opera House, Freedom music hall, Terminal Music hall, Allegro Circus, The Military Forces Cultural Center, President Hotel, Dnepr Hotel, Egypt Art Club, China White, Shafran, Armenia, Belveder, Opium, Opera Hotel and many others. She is usually invited to perform for the celebrations of the numerous International companies such as Samsung, Mazda, Skoda, Tetra Pak, Oranta, Maiskiy Tea etc. Her performance can often be seen in diplomatic and official events and those related to the Arabian  culture.

        Amira is the only oriental dancer often invited to perform for the National Academy of Military forces, the Ministry  of Defense and the Central Cultural Center of Military Forces. Amira became also the first belly dancer to perform at the International Cinema Festival “Vmeste” in Yalta 2006, where she was sharing stage with the best Ukrainian and Russian opera and pop singers and ballet dance stars.

    Amira is a director, producer and main choreographer of her own dance shows, “Arabian Night”, “The Window do the East”, “The Magic of the Orient”. “The jewel of the Orient”, “Dancing under the stars” and many others. She appeared in a number of newspapers and TV shows for TET, CТБ, 1+1, K1 channels. The magazine “Vsia nedelya” called her  “the oriental artist dancing with the heart and not only with the belly”. She is the organizer of her own festival Arabiana where she brought world renowned stars such as Magdy El Leisy, Leila Jouvana and Roland, Schachlo and many others
