Amira Abdi is professional oriental dancer, master teacher, choreographer, director and producer of dance shows
She is Ukrainian belly dance champion in 2004, 2005, 2006
Education:
National Polytechnic University
National Academy of Managerial stuff of Culture and Arts faculty of folklore dance
Graduated from the Arabic language courses at the Libyan Embassy, as well as Arabic language courses at the Islamic Cultural Center.
Dance career
At the age of 12 Amira started practicing classical ballet and folklore dances.
At the age of 14 after visiting her relatives in Algeria fell in love with oriental culture and started studying oriental dance together with Arabic language and history and art.
Took private classes with the founder of Cairo National Troupe Mr. Mahmoud Reda.
In order to learn more about eastern culture has traveled the Middle and Far East. Visited Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon, Iran, Tunisia, Syria, India, UAE, Algeria and Malaysia.
Since 2000 till now performs on shows all over Ukraine and abroad
In 2002 founded the first oriental dance school in Kiev presently counting more than 300 students . She mastered her own teaching method and art of dance instruction based on classical and character dance which is now famous all over Ukraine.
2005 - 2011 annually takes part in “Nilegroupe” and “Ahlan wa Sahlan” Oriental dance festivals in Cairo, Egypt
Took workshops with Raqia Hassan, Amani of Lebanon, Farida Fahmi,Magdy El Leisy, Momo Kadous, Dalia, Jahan, Alaa Yusef, Randa Kamal, Camelia, Mona El Said, Khaled Mahmoud, Freiz, Zeina, Dandash, Dawlat Ebrahim, Leila of Cairo, Wafeek Kamal, Orit Maftsir, Nesrin, Tito, Liza Laziza, Hassan Khalil, Faruk Mustafa, Aida Nour, Kazzafi, Sami Khouri, Georgette Gebara, Francois Rahme, Аmir Thaleb, Princess Farhana, Аsmahan, Farida Seidi, Jillina.
In 2006 with the group of her students represented Ukraine in Amani Oriental Festival in Beirut, Lebanon
Since 2006 holds workshops all over Ukraine
Since 2007 member of jury in oriental dance competitions
In 2008 organized the First International Oriental festival in Kiev where I invited famous choreographers - Leila Jouvana and Roland, Magdy El Leisy, Schachlo
In 2009 founded professional oriental dance troupe “Ishtar”, which received numerous awards on Ukrainian belly dance and folklore dance competitions.
Was a main choreographer, producer and organizer of the oriental dance shows: “Arabian nights” (2004, 2005), ”Window to the East” (2006), “The Jewel of Orient” (2007), “The Magic of Orient” (2008), “Dancing under the stars” (2009), “Oriental Night Fantasy”
She appeared in a number of newspapers and TV shows for First National Channel, and other Ukrainian channels such as TET, CТБ, 1+1, K1 .
Ukrainian magazine “Vsia nedelya” called her “the oriental artist dancing with the heart and not only with the belly”
