Welcome to Amira's Oriental Dance School

By studying the arts of Arabian belly dance, you'll discover a way to spiritual and physical health, find grace and plastic, learn the wonderful traditions and culture of the Middle East. You will be able to develop a sense of rhythm and improve the coordination of movements, find new friends and enjoy the atmosphere of the Arabian party.

Oriental Dance School "Amira" was founded in 2002 by Amira Abdi. It is presently counting more than 300 students obtaining a complete training in both teaching and professional levels. Amira mastered her own teaching method and art of dance instruction which is now famous all over Ukraine.

The program includes:

• Tradional raqs sharqi
• Shaabi and balady
• Veil dance
• Cane Dance
• Egyptian, Lebanese, Tunisian, khalygy folklore dances
• Andalusian dance
• The rhythms of oriental dance
• Dance composition and acting
• The art of improvisation

Top students of Amira’s dance school take part in domestic and international competitions and festivals. The most talented are invited to "Ishtar Dance Troupe" some of them became teachers of the Amira's school. Some of the students have become teachers of other oriental dance schools in Kiev and other Ukrainian cities.

The achievements and awards of Amira’s School:

• Gold medal at the Oriental Dance Championship of Ukraine in Cherkassy 2005 - "Duet Amareyn "- Aziza and Intisar
• Gold medal at the Championship of Ukraine in Donetsk 2005, the category of amateurs - Singaevskaya I.
• Silver medal at the Dance Tournament in Donetsk 2005 - "Duet Amareyn "- Aziza and Intisar
• Bronze Medal at the International Festival "Bastet", Donetsk 2006 - Group folk dance
• Gold Medal at the Belly Dance Championship of Ukraine in Kiev 2006 - trio - " The Serpent Dance"
• The finals of the Odessa Cup by ASETU 2006 and Ukraine's Championship 2006 in Yalta - Zeinab
• Gold medal at the Ukrainian Orienla Dance championship by Oriental Dancer’s Association 2007 in Kiev - Komarnitskaya Jana.

• Gold medal at the International Competition Sudak 2008 - Fusion belly dance
• Gold medal at the International Competition Sudak 2008 - Classical raqs sharqi
• Silver medal at the International Competition Sudak 2008 - Arabian folk dance
• Silver medal at the international Competition Sudak 2008 - Show belly dance

In June 2006, Amira with the group of her students represented Ukraine for the first time at the International Amani oriental dance festival in Jounieh (Lebanon) where she was offered to become the official representative of this festival in Ukraine.

In April 2006, 2007 and 2008 Amira Abdi brought her students to the international festival «Nilegroup» in Cairo where they performed and took workshops with the Egyptian dance stars.

Each year, the Amira’s dance school organizes concerts and parties demonstrating the results of the creative work of it’s students during the year.

In 2007 Amira Abdi founded "Ishtar Dance Troupe" to which she invited her best students. It's aim is the systematization and development of classical raqs sharqi and Arabian folk dance to a high -level stage art.
